Chapter 03b · People

The faces. Cut once, used everywhere.

One source photo per person becomes a square, a round, and the navy ring. Same crop, same ring, same size, so a team page, a byline, and an email signature all match without anyone opening a photo editor.

§ 1

The library

Three cuts · two sizes · one click

Every cut is a real file at a stable address. Download it, or copy the link and paste it anywhere that takes a URL, including the signature tool.

§ 2

How a photo gets in

Same for everyone

Three rules keep the wall consistent as the team grows.

01 · Source

One clean photo, shoulders up.

Any background works. No rings, frames, or brush strokes baked in: the library adds the ring, so a decorated source ends up with two. Bigger is better; 1000 pixels across is the floor for a sharp 800 cut.

02 · Cut

The script does the cropping.

Face centered, circle sized to the frame, then square, round, and ring at 800 and 240. Nobody crops by hand, so every face sits the same way. scripts/headshots.py

03 · Use

Ring in signatures, round on dark, square in grids.

The ring is the default for email and bylines. The plain round goes on navy sections. The square is for team grids and anywhere a photo sits in a card.
